n Spot light: This is a beam of light that spreads out in one direction in a cone from a specific
point.
n Point light: This is like a lightbulb that spreads light out in all directions from a point.
n Directional light: This is like angled sunlight.
You can animate lights in Blend. See Chapter 14 for details.
If you select a light in the Objects list in the Objects and Timeline palette and click the Selection
tool, the light appears in the Viewport3D??”for example, as a directional light as shown in Figure
12.11. Once the light is visible, you can do the following:
n Change the color of the light by clicking the Color swatch in the Light palette and choosing
a color from the color picker that appears.
n Position the directional light by dragging the X, Y, or Z arrow with the Selection tool, as
shown in Figure 12.12, or by assigning values in the Direction input boxes in the Light
palette.
n Rotate and position the light with the Selection tool by clicking and dragging the transformation
handles.
You can change any light from one to the other of these types by selecting the light in the Objects
list and choosing a different Light Type from the Light palette.
Adding and deleting lights
To add a light, you can copy an existing light in the Objects list and paste it into the same element
in which it resides in the Objects list.
