The Location of the Pictures Folder
If you??™re the sort of person who isn??™t satisfied knowing the Pictures folder is available from
the Start menu, you might ask questions like, ???Where on the hard disk is it actually stored so
I can find it without the Start menu???? Well, here??™s your answer: It depends upon whether you
use Windows XP or Windows Vista.
?– On a Windows XP computer The My Pictures folder is located inside the My
Documents folder, along with My Music and My Videos. The formal path to the
folder is: C:\Documents and Settings\username\My Documents\My Pictures.
?– On a Windows Vista computer The Pictures folder, along with all the other
media folders, is a peer of the Documents folder??”in other words, it lives on the hard
drive in the same parent folder as Documents instead of being inside it. The formal
path is C:\Users\username\Pictures.
