"How to Do Everything: Digital Camera 5 edition"

Many kinds of files have a special place in the file to
store this metadata. Digital photos, for example, can be tagged with metadata like the camera
name, exposure information, and zoom lens setting used to take the photo, keywords or
tags you used to describe the photo, and when the photo was taken. To see all the metadata
associated with one of your photos, right-click the file icon and choose Properties. There??™s a
surprising amount of information in the Details tab, which you can see just part of here:

Add a Tag to a Photo
If you already have a tag in the list, you can easily add it to one or more photos using drag and
drop. Just select the photo (or the group of photos) that you want to tag and drag them from the
main thumbnail view to the Navigation pane. If you hover, you should see a tooltip that tells you
which tag you??™re about to apply. Drop the photos on the desired tag.
Find a Photo Using Tags
After you??™ve tagged your photos, the real magic happens when you want to find a photo. Instead
of rooting through dozens of folders in search of the right set of images and looking at filenames
and thumbnails that might be close to what you need, just click the tag in the Navigation pane
that reflects what you want.
