"How to Do Everything: Digital Camera 5 edition"

(Of course, that might be a good thing, because it??™ll prompt you to try tagging!)
Add Tags When You
Import Your Photos
In addition to tagging your photos in Photo Gallery, you can add tags when you initially
transfer them to the PC. When you click Import Your Pictures Using Windows (see Chapter 11
for details), you can add an optional tag to all your photos.
Crop to just the Import dialog in the bottom right of the desktop. Unfortunately, the
tag will be applied to every photo in the collection, but if your photos all have a common
theme, like summer vacation or your kid??™s recital, then it might make sense to add a tag
globally to all the incoming images. You can always fine-tune the tags (by adding new ones
or removing the tag from a few images that aren??™t appropriate) as soon as they??™re opened in
Photo Gallery. And a special tip: to add more than one tag during import, just separate each
tag with a semicolon, like this: kids; vacation; Hawaii.
CHAPTER 12: Finding and Organizing Your Pictures 245
Here??™s an easy strategy for renaming your images:
1. Open the folder in which your newly transferred images are stored.
2. You should see a preview of the image in the folder. If you can??™t, you??™re probably using
Windows XP and need to reset the folder view.
