You might want to use the Magnetic Lasso tool. As
you drag it around the body, it??™ll automatically snap to the subject??™s body, but don??™t be
shy about helping the tool find the right edges by clicking at appropriate locations. When
you do all the way around your subject, double-click.

5. Next, you want to make the selection bigger than his body. To do that, choose Select |
Modify | Expand and select perhaps 10 or 20 pixels. Then feather the selection in the
same way??”choose Select | Feather and set the feather to 5 or 10 pixels.

6. Now it??™s time to add an effect to make the subject glow. Choose Enhance | Adjust
Lighting | Brightness/Contrast and jack the brightness and contrast up to maximum.
Click OK, and you should see a bright white region where the subject used to be.
7. Next, make the top layer visible again by clicking the eye you turned off in step 3. The
glow should disappear because the copy of the original, unretouched image is now on top.
8. In the Layer Palette, click the top layer to select it, and then reduce the layer??™s opacity until
you get the effect you like??”it??™ll probably be in the neighborhood of 20 to 40 percent.
9. Turn off the selection by choosing Select | Deselect.
