"How to Do Everything: Digital Camera 5 edition"

The heir to the floppy throne? There isn??™t just one. Recordable CDs and DVDs are popular,
but so are USB memory devices??”sometimes called USB keys, key drives, or thumb drives. You
can use either of these to copy and share massive numbers of photos via good ol??™ SneakerNet.
Getting photos onto a USB memory key is a snap. Just insert one into your computer??™s USB
port and wait for the AutoPlay window to appear, then choose Open Folder to View Files.
Then drag any photos you want to share from your Pictures folder (or wherever you??™ve
stored them) to the open USB memory key folder window.
CHAPTER 18: Share Your Pictures 405
Sharing files via CD or DVD is almost as easy. CDs hold 650MB of data each, while DVDs
store a whopping 4.7GB each. That??™s a lot of room for photos. Windows XP has CD burning
built in, but if you have Windows Vista, you can burn CDs or DVDs. Here??™s how:
1. Insert a recordable disc into your computer??™s recordable CD or DVD drive.
2. In the AutoPlay dialog box, click Burn Files to Disc Using Windows.
3. In the Burn a Disc dialog box, click Next.
4. Wait while the disc is formatted. When it??™s done, you??™ll see an empty disc folder.
5. Open the folder that contains the photos you want to share, and then drag the selected
images into the empty disc folder.
