Semantic.Web
With the increasing introduction of SOA in enterprises and government organisations,
there will be a lot of BPEL available on the Internet. As a consequence, the
number of Web services will exponentially grow. Similar to Web pages, it will
become more and more difficult to discover the right Web service (BPEL); so some
intelligence will be needed to help the applications or the people to find the Web
services that are required.
The solution for the problems with the Web pages is the Semantic Web. It is the
representation of data on the World Wide Web. It is based on the resource description
framework (RDF), which integrates a variety of applications using XML
for syntax and uniform resource identifier (URI)s for naming (see http://www.
w3.org/2001/sw).
The idea behind the Semantic Web is to make the Web as intelligent as possible.
Therefore, the Semantic Web uses technologies such as RDF, agents, and databases.
